I've noticed something as I've played through my campaign world these last few months: It's awful. It follows every cliche, trope and stereotype you can have for a homebrew world. And I don't like it. So, I'm going to slowly change it over time to how it should be.
Now, the difficulty is that I have to decide what to do first among these-
1) No more evil gods.
Evil is a different perspective, that's all it really is. Every believable villain thinks they're the good guy. Who would worship the gods of tyranny, slaughter, and destruction? No one, except maybe a mustache-twirling villain from yesteryear. Or someone completely out of their noggin.
2)Countries =\= Continents
This was a mistake I made from rushing. My countries were large, bland, and mostly the same with different names, and all of them had their own continent. Baaad idea.
3) 0 culture points.
My nations, like I pointed out, we're all the same, but with some cosmetic changes. Looks =/= culture, another rookie mistake.
In short, if you want to make a homebrew world, start small. Make ONE country, and make it basic. Then add the towns your players will be in, flesh those out, let the rest grow over time. It'll save you a ton of stress both now, and down the road.
